Course Aim:
Days 1 and 2 Introduce Participants to Laterality - the relationship between left and right hemispheres of the brain and the left and right sides of the body and related Brain Gym Movements.

Details:
Brain Gym ® 1 is based on laterality - the communication between the left and right sides of the neo-cortex and body for communication. This course will give you the opportunity to explore how this model and the relating Brain Gym ® techniques can be used to develop: -

• Stress release
• Gross and fine motor skills for writing, drawing, keyboard skill, music and sports.
• Hand eye co-ordination
• The significance of the midline for the learner
• listening, spelling memory vision and reading.
• Whole body movement
• Balance and co-ordination.

You will also explore: -

• How stress can impact on learners neural functioning and processing between the left and right hemispheres of the brain. The effects of stress on our daily lives.
• Noticing skills – what to look for in relation to the learner physiology and the laterality dimension.
• The Brain Gym balancing process. How to integrate this process into the classroom routine to make the outcome more effective.
• A system of goal setting and exploration of the need for clear, unambiguous language as part of this process.
• Dennison Laterality Re-patterning - explores the noticing skills and refinements of the process.
• The key elements of each technique. The finer detail points that make these movements more effective, the coping strategies displayed by children challenged by the movements, techniques to guide the child towards developing the necessary connections to achieve the movements.
• Suggestions and practise to integrate Brain Gym into the working environment as a way of preparing children to learn, as a break state, as part of activities within the classroom and for individual children who may benefit from their own specific programme.
